This Privacy Policy explains how Verdancy App (“Verdancy,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Verdancy mobile application (the “App”). By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Who we are
Verdancy is a plant identification and plant-care app. You take or select a photo of a plant, we help identify it and diagnose problems, and we generate care guidance. Subscribers get additional features such as tailored care plans, a light meter, and the Plant Buddy companion.

2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information. When you sign in with Sign in with Apple, Google, or email, we receive and store an account identifier and, depending on your choices, your email address and name. If you use Sign in with Apple's “Hide My Email,” we receive only the private relay address Apple provides.
- Plant photos. When you identify or diagnose a plant, you provide a photo from your camera or photo library.
- Plant and garden data. Names, notes, care schedules, “done” actions, and other data you create about your plants.
Information collected automatically
- Subscription status. We work with RevenueCat and the Apple App Store to manage subscriptions. We receive your subscription and entitlement status and a subscription identifier. We do not receive or store your full payment card details; payment is handled by Apple.
- Basic technical data. Limited operational data needed to run the service (for example, request logs and error information). We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA) and do not track you across other apps or websites.
Information we do not collect
- We do not collect your precise location.
- We do not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.
- We do not sell your personal information.
3. How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Identify plants and diagnose plant-health problems from your photos.
- Generate care plans, reminders, and other care guidance.
- Create and maintain your account and authenticate you.
- Manage your subscription and unlock subscriber features.
- Operate, secure, debug, and improve the App.
- Communicate with you about the service (for example, support responses).
4. How your photos are handled
Your privacy around photos is central to how Verdancy is built:
- Identify and diagnose photos you submit are sent to our AI provider for analysis and are not stored on our servers: the image bytes are processed to return a result and then discarded.
- Photos you choose to save to a plant in your garden are stored in a private, per-user cloud storage bucket. They are accessible only to your account and are never made public or shared with other users.
- Photos are uploaded and downloaded using short-lived, per-request secure links tied to your account. One user can never access another user's photos.
5. AI processing and third parties
To identify plants, diagnose issues, generate care plans, and create the Plant Buddy artwork, we send the relevant photo and/or text to Google's Gemini AI service. That data is used to produce your result. We do not send your name, email, or account contact details to the AI provider along with the image.
The Plant Buddy companion art is generated per plant species (not per user) and is shared across all users who have that species; no personal information is embedded in it.
6. Service providers we rely on
We share limited information with vendors who help us operate the App, only as needed to provide the service:

We do not authorize these providers to use your information for their own independent purposes beyond providing their service to us.
7. Notifications
Care reminders are generated and scheduled locally on your device. We do not run a server-side push-notification system for reminders. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
8. Data retention
- Account and garden data are retained while your account is active.
- Saved plant photos are retained until you delete the plant/photo or your account.
- Identify/diagnose photos are not retained (see Section 4).
- We may retain limited records as required for legal, security, or accounting purposes.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing.
- Delete your account and data: contact verdancy.contact@gmail.com or use the in-app account deletion option if available. We will delete your account data, including saved photos, subject to limited legal retention.
- Camera and photo access: you can revoke camera or photo-library permission at any time in iOS Settings.
- Marketing: we do not send advertising; any service emails are transactional.
To exercise any right, email verdancy.contact@gmail.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
10. Children's privacy
Verdancy is not directed to children under 7 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact verdancy.contact@gmail.com and we will delete it.
11. International users
We operate the App from Canada and may process and store information in the United States and other countries. By using the App you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in countries with different data-protection laws than your own.
12. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including per-user access controls, private image storage, encrypted secrets management, and least-privilege access. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and limit access to it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Your continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
